EASTERN RAILWAY ENHANCES PASSENGER COMFORT WITH NEW ESCALATORS

In its ongoing commitment to improving passenger convenience and accessibility, Eastern Railway has made significant strides in enhancing the ease of movement across its station premises. As part of its efforts to minimize physical exertion and improve accessibility, Eastern Railway has successfully installed escalators at various stations under its jurisdiction.
*Installed Capacity of Escalators*-
As of March 2024, a total of 71 escalators have been installed across 31 stations. These include 4 stations in Asansol Division, 10 stations in Howrah Division, 4 stations in Malda Division, and 13 stations in Sealdah Division.
*Plan for more Escalators during 2024-25*-
Eastern Railway has announced the installation of 10 escalators at four major stations during the 2024-25 fiscal year - Simultala, Andal, Jamalpur, and New Farakka - across Asansol and Malda Divisions. These new installations will be strategically placed at key stations, including 4 escalators at New Farakka, 2 at Jamalpur, 2 at Andal, and 2 at Simultala. These escalators are expected to significantly ease movement within station premises, reducing the physical strain on passengers and enhancing overall travel experience.
*Passenger Benefit*-
The installation of escalators will have a transformative impact on the travel experience, particularly for, elderly passengers, who will no longer have to navigate stairs with difficulty, women with infant babies or strollers, who will appreciate the ease of movement and Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) individuals who will benefit from barrier-free access. These escalators will also save time, with continuous and swift transportation, reduce fatigue, eliminating the need for physical exertion, enhance safety, minimizing the risk of accidents and injuries. Moreover, they will occupy less space, making them ideal for stations with limited area and will operate continuously, with low maintenance and energy efficiency.
The introduction of these escalators aligns with Eastern Railway’s vision of making rail travel more accessible and comfortable for all passengers, ensuring a smoother and more convenient journey. By harnessing cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions, Eastern Railway is poised to set new standards in passenger amenities, further solidifying its position as a leader in the rail transport sector.

इस सप्ताह एण्डटीवी के शोज ‘अटल‘ और ‘भीमा‘ में जबरदस्त ड्रामा देखने को मिलेगा, इन दोनों शोज की कहानियां दर्शकों को बांधकर रखेंगी और उनका भरपूर मनोरंजन करेंगी। एण्डटीवी के ‘अटल‘ के बारे में बताते हुये कृष्णा देवी का किरदार निभा रहीं नेहा जोशी ने कहा, ‘‘अटल को परीक्षा में शामिल होने के लिये दूसरे पैरेंट्स का भी सपोर्ट मिलने के बाद, स्कूल प्रिंसिपल परेशान होकर एक ब्रिटिश अधिकारी से इस घटना के बारे में चर्चा करता है। ब्रिटिश अधिकारी स्कूल प्रिंसिपल और तोमर को एक क्रूर योजना के बारे में बताता है, ताकि अटल विचलित हो जाये और मोहल्ला में हंगामा मच जाये। सुशीला को इस योजना के बारे में पता चल जाता है और वह सरस्वती को बताती है कि बहुत जल्द कुछ महत्वपूर्ण एवं दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण होने वाला है। अगली सुबह, मोहल्ले में सिपाही आते हैं और सभी लोगों को अपना घर खाली करके वहां से चले जाने का आदेश सुनाते हैं, क्योंकि सरकार की वहां पर अब एक डाक बंगला बनाने की योजना है। अटल शुरूआत में सिपाही से अचानक इस फैसले का कारण पूछता है और फिर सभी लोगों से एविक्शन नोटिस (घर खाली करने का नोटिस) जमा करवाता है, उसे जला देता है और ब्रिटिश सरकार के फैसले के खिलाफ एक कड़ा कदम उठाता है। इस बीच कृष्णा देवी अटल को स्कूल की परीक्षायें देने के लिये प्रोत्साहित करती है। स्कूल में अटल का सामना उस ब्रिटिश अधिकारी से होता है और वह अटल को चुनौती देता है कि वह उसे चैन से नहीं रहने देगा और उसे बेघर करके रहेगा। वहीं, तोमर मोहल्ले के सभी लोगों से एक जगह जमा होने के लिये कहता है, जहां वह एक बड़ी घोषणा करने वाला है। ब्रिटिश अधिकारी मोहल्ले के लोगों से कहता है कि उनकी इस स्थिति के लिये अटल जिम्मेदार है और यदि उन्होंने एक हफ्ते के भीतर अपनी मर्जी से घर खाली नहीं किया, तो उन्हें धक्के मारकर वहां से बाहर कर दिया जायेगा और उन्हें कोई मुआवजा भी नहीं मिलेगा।‘‘ एण्डटीवी के ‘भीमा‘ के बारे में बताते हुये धनिया का किरदार निभा रहीं स्मिता साबले ने कहा, ‘‘भीमा स्कूल में दाखिला करवाने पर अड़ जाती है, जिसके बाद कैलाशा बुआ और कलिका सिंह उसे और उसकी मां धनिया को कमरे में बंद करने की योजना बनाते हैं और उन पर हमला करने के लिये अपने आदमियों को भेजते हैं। हालांकि, भीमा के चाचा छबीला उनकी मदद करने के लिये पहुंच जाते हैं, लेकिन उनपर एक गंभीर आरोप लग जाता है। इस बीच धनिया बेहोश हो जाती है और कैलाशा बुआ इसे एक अवसर के रूप में देखती है। वह भीमा को धमकाती है कि धनिया की देखभाल तभी की जायेगी, जब भीमा उनकी चुनौती को पूरा करेगी और पढ़ाई करने की जिद हमेशा के लिये छोड़ देगी।‘‘

It took me 16 years to get a prominent role: Amit Bhardwaj of new show, Bheema

Actor Amit Bhardwaj, renowned for his work in theatre, film, and television, is now playing a significant part of &TV’s new social drama, Bheema. Amit is seen as Mewa, the father of the title character Bheema. In this exclusive interview, Amit talks about the show, his character, his journey in the entertainment industry and his love for traditional Bihari cuisine.
1. How did you land the role of Mewa in Bheema?
I found out about Bheema through a friend. He informed me about the auditions organised by Raj Khatri Productions for a character from Uttar Pradesh. I was intrigued, sent in my profile, and was shortlisted. After a successful mock test and audition, I was thrilled to be cast as the lead in Bheema.
2. Tell us about your journey so far.
This is the first time in 16 years of my career that I have bagged a prominent role. Earlier, I would audition for a bigger role but only end up with smaller parts. My career started in 2008 with a cameo in Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo. Despite the challenges, including a stint as an assistant director to sustain myself, I never gave up. I am deeply grateful to the production house and channel for believing in me and helping me realize this dream.
3. Can you share insights into your work as a dubbing artist?
I spent about eight years as a dubbing artist, starting with my role in Chakravyuh where I dubbed for a coach. I also worked on numerous Hindi and South Indian films, which helped me refine my skills and broaden my industry experience.
4. What do you like the most about Bheema?
The concept of the show is interesting and engaging. Set in the 1980s, "Bheema" follows the story of a young girl named Bheema. It is a social drama focusing on her struggles and her journey toward equal rights. Audiences will witness her courageous journey as she battles adversities stemming from her family, society, and economic conditions. Despite facing numerous injustices and discrimination, she fearlessly strives to overcome these obstacles.
5. Tell us about your character in the show.
Mewa is a humble and innocent man who is empathetic towards others, and always ready to lend a helping hand. Mewa radiates warmth and compassion. His weakness lies in his inability to speak up against injustice.
6. How did you prepare for this role?
Being from Bihar, I am familiar with the language. As soon as I was briefed about the character, I started getting into the skin of Mewa and conduct like him even when I was not shooting. This method helps me to portray the character authentically.
7. Where are you from?
I am from the Gaya district in Bihar, where my family lives. I cherish evenings spent in Bodh Gaya seeking blessings and peace. I love the traditional Bihari cuisine. Aloo ke parathe, Sattu ke parathe, Litti chokha, and Champaran chicken curry are close to my heart. I could live on these dishes forever. My time in Patna with Nirman Kalamanch and Hajju Musical Theater also holds many fond memories.
8. What can viewers expect from Bheema?
Bheema is a social drama that delves into the life of a young girl. The show highlights her struggles for equal rights. Audiences will witness a powerful story of resilience and hope, as Bheema navigates the complexities of family, society, and economic challenges. I’m confident the show will be both compelling and emotionally impactful.

बच्चों को कुपोषणमुक्त करने को लेकर बैठक हुई*

भागलपुर, दिनांक 10 अगस्त 2024. जिलाधिकारी डॉ नवल किशोर चौधरी की अध्यक्षता में उनके कार्यालय कक्ष में जिले के अति कुपोषित एवं कुपोषित बच्चों को कुपोषण से बाहर निकलने को लेकर आईसीडीएस (समेकित बाल विकास सेवाएं), स्वास्थ्य विभाग एवं संबंधित पदाधिकारी के साथ बैठक आयोजित की गई।
बैठक में बताया गया की अति कुपोषित बच्चों को, जिन्हें रेफर किया जाता है उन्हें सदर अस्पताल के पोषण पुनर्वास केंद्र में रखकर उनके शरीर में जो कमी होती है, उसके आधार पर प्रोफाइल तैयार की जाती है, तदनुसार आहार एवं दवा देकर उन्हें 45 दिनों में कुपोषण से बाहर निकाल कर पूर्णत: स्वस्थ कर उन्हें घर भेजा जाता है। उनके अभिभावक को भी संतुलित आहार देने हेतु काउंसलिंग की जाती है। जिलाधिकारी ने कहा कि 10000 बच्चों को कुपोषण से बाहर निकलना है तो केवल NRC से काम नहीं चलेगा। इसके लिए विभाग को पत्र लिखा जाए कि अनुमंडल स्तर पर पोषण पुनर्वास केंद्र का निर्माण कराया जाए और उनमें बेडों की संख्या अधिक रखी जाए। तत्काल शहरी क्षेत्र में 50 बेड का अस्थाई पोषण पुनर्वास केंद्र की व्यवस्था करने हेतु स्वास्थ्य विभाग को निर्देशित किया गया। उन्होंने कहा कि इतनी बड़ी संख्या में बच्चों को कुपोषण से बाहर निकालने के लिए उनके घर पर ही संतुलित आहार एवं वांछित दवा देकर कुपोषण से बाहर निकाला जाए। इसके लिए तीन श्रेणी में कुपोषित बच्चों को रखा जाए, अति कुपोषित, कुपोषित एवं अस्वस्थ। इसके लिए पहले जिला स्तर पर तदुपरांत प्रखंड स्तर पर संबंधित पदाधिकारी एवं कर्मियों को प्रशिक्षण दिया जाएगा। जिनमें स्वास्थ्य विभाग, जीविका, समेकित बाल विकास सेवाएं (आईसीडीएस) को शामिल किया जाए। इसके लिए पोस्टर, पंपलेट एवम् आवश्यक प्रचार सामग्री की तैयारी कर ली जाए। साथ ही शिशु चिकित्सक को संवेदनशील बनाया जाए।
बैठक में सभी संबंधित विभाग के पदाधिकारी उपस्थित थे।

लंबित पत्रों के निष्पादन को लेकर हुई बैठक।

भागलपुर, दिनांक 10 अगस्त 2024. जिलाधिकारी डॉक्टर नवल किशोर चौधरी की अध्यक्षता में उनके कार्यालय कक्ष में लंबित पत्रों के निष्पादन को लेकर समीक्षा बैठक की गई। बैठक में सामान्य परिवाद एवं वरीय कार्यालय से प्रेषित परिवाद के निष्पादन की स्थिति की समीक्षा की गई।
राजस्व शाखा द्वारा बताया गया लंबित पत्रों में सामान्य परिवाद के मामले अधिक हैं। अभी भी जगदीशपुर, पीरपैंती अंचलमें लंबित पत्रों की निष्पादन की गति धीमी है। जिलाधिकारी ने वैसे सभी कार्यालय जिनके यहां लंबित पत्रों के निष्पादन की गति धीमी रही है, उन्हें रविवार को कार्यालय खोलकर लंबित पत्रों के निष्पादन का आदेश दिया। उन्होंने सख्त निर्देश दिए कि सभी कार्यालय प्रधान अपने-अपने कार्यालय के लंबित पत्रों का निष्पादन सोमवार तक कर लें।
बैठक में अपर समाहर्ता राजस्व, अपर समाहर्ता लोग शिकायत निवारण सहित संबंधित पदाधिकारी उपस्थित थे।
बैठक में सभी कार्यालयों में बायोमेट्रिक से उपस्थिति दर्ज करने की स्थिति की समीक्षा की गई। आईटी मैनेजर ने बताया कि 229 निकासी एवम् व्ययन पदाधिकारी(डीडीओ) के कार्यालय में से 207 कार्यालय में बायोमेट्रिक उपस्थिति दर्ज की जा रही है। जिन विभागों में अभी तक बायोमेट्रिक उपस्थिति दर्ज नहीं की गई जा रही है उसमें स्वास्थ्य विभाग, राजस्व के कई क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय, समाज कल्याण, बाल विकास परियोजना कार्यालय, कृषि, नगर निकाय के सात कार्यालय, पुलिस अधीक्षक नवगछिया का कार्यालय शामिल है।
जिलाधिकारी ने सभी से स्पष्टीकरण की मांग करने तथा पुलिस अधीक्षक नवगछिया को बायोमैट्रिक प्रणाली संस्थापित करवाने हेतु पत्र प्रेषित करने को निर्देशित किया।

भागलपुर के चर्चित दवा व्यवसायी बलराम केडिया के पुत्र रौनक केडिया का दिनांक 07.08.2024 बुधवार की रात को आज्ञात अपराधियों द्वारा नृशंस रूप से हत्या किये जाने पर भागलपुर के माननीय विधायक अजीत शर्मा जी ने शोक व्यक्त करते हुए भागलपुर के वरीय पुलिस अधीक्षक को अपराधियों के अविलम्ब गिरफ्तार करने एवं इस केश में स्पीडी ट्रायल करा कर अपराधियों को शख्त से शख्त सजा दिलवाने हेतु पत्र लिखा है एवं पीड़ित परिवार को पर्याप्त सुरक्षा व्यवस्था मुहैया कराने हेतु भी निर्देशित किया है। विधायक श्री शर्मा ने पत्र में लिखा है कि भागलपुर के चर्चित दवा व्यवसायी बलराम केडिया के पुत्र रौनक केडिया का दिनांक 07.08.2024 दिन बुधवार की रात को करीब 10:00 बजे एमपी द्विवेदी रोड स्थित शनिदेव मन्दिर वाली गली में अज्ञात अपराधियों द्वारा गोली मार कर नृशंस हत्या कर दी गई है। जो जिले के कानून व्यवस्था पर सवालिया निशान खड़ा कर रहा है जिससे व्यापारी वर्ग व आम लोगों के बीच दहशत का माहौल बन गया है एवं आम लोगों के जान-माल की सुरक्षा पर भी प्रश्न चिन्ह खड़ा हो रहा है। ज्ञात हो कि घटना स्थल से कोतवाली थाना की दूरी महज 200 मीटर की है, लेकिन वह क्षेत्र वहाँ से लगभग दो किलोमीटर दूर ततारपुर थाना अन्तर्गत पड़ता है। जिसकी वजह से पुलिस की गश्ती नहीं के बराबर होती है तथा घटना स्थल वाली गली भी काफी संकीर्ण है जिसमें लोगों का आवागमन काफी कम होता है एवं शाम ढलते हीं इस गली में नशेड़ियों व असमाजिक तत्वों का जमावड़ा लग जाता है। जिससे प्रतीत होता है कि उनमें पुलिस प्रशासन का जरा भी खौफ नही है। साथ हीं साथ विधायक श्री शर्मा आज बलराम केडिया जी के आवास पर जाकर उनके परिवारजनों से मिलकर अपनी संवेदना व्यक्त की।
Malda Division Introduces QR Code Payment Facility at Booking Counters

In a significant move towards enhancing passenger convenience and promoting cashless transactions, the Malda Division has introduced QR code devices for online UPI payment at seven (07) booking counters across the division. This includes three (03) Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters and two (02) Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters at Malda Town Railway Station, as well as one (01) UTS and one (01) PRS counter at New Farakka Railway Station.
With the introduction of this facility, passengers can now make secure and instant payments at these PRS and UTS counters using dynamically generated QR codes. This new initiative ensures a seamless and cashless booking experience, enhancing both speed and security for travelers.
Furthermore, in the coming week, the QR code payment facility will be extended to Jamalpur and Bhagalpur stations’ booking counters, as well as all UTS and PRS counters across the division. This initiative aims to make the ticketing process more efficient and convenient for all passengers.
Malda Division is committed to continually improving services and adopting the latest technologies to provide the best possible experience for passengers.

भागलपुर नगर निगम सभागार कक्ष में आज सामान्य समिति बोर्ड की शेष बैठक आहूत की गई। बैठक की अध्यक्षता महापौर बसुंधरा लाल द्वारा किया गया। बैठक के दौरान विभिन्न प्रस्तावों को स्वीकृति दी गई जो निम्नवत है :—
1. भागलपुर नगर निगम क्षेत्र अंतर्गत जितने भी होटल, रेस्टोरेंट, विवाह भवन आदि हैं सभी का अलग-अलग पंजीकरण कराया जाएगा साथ ही सभी के समुचित साफ सफाई व्यवस्था के लिए अलग-अलग प्रभारी होंगे।
2. भागलपुर शहर में जितने भी महापुरुषों की प्रतिमा स्थापित है सबका रखरखाव एवं सफाई व्यवस्था निरंतर कराया जाएगा।
3. सफ़ाई व्यवस्था की दयनीय स्थिति को देखते हुए दोनों आउटसोर्सिंग एजेंसी के एकरारनामा को रद्द करने के प्रस्ताव पर सर्वसम्मति से स्वीकृति दी गई।
4.सभी वार्डों में लगातार नालों की उड़ाही की जाएगी इसके लिए कम से कम पांच सफाई मजदूर उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा तथा यह व्यवस्था हथिया नाला व बड़े नालों का उड़ाही करने वाले गैंग मजदूर के अतिरिक्त कराया जाएगा ।
5. कूड़ा उठाव की व्यवस्था सभी मुख्य सड़कों से अविलंब दुरुस्त कराया जाएगा साथ ही कम से कम तीन पालियों में कूड़ा उठाव कराया जाएगा ।
6. हर रविवार को साफ सफाई सुनिश्चित किया जाएगा।
7. भागलपुर नगर निगम क्षेत्र अंतर्गत जितने भी कम्युनिटी टॉयलेट व पब्लिक टॉयलेट अवस्थित है सभी के समुचित रखरखाव की व्यवस्था कराई जाएगी।
8. भागलपुर नगर निगम क्षेत्र अंतर्गत जितने भी रेन बसेरा है और सभी रेन बसेरा के संचालक कौन हैं रेन बसेरा की संचालन की प्रक्रिया क्या है इस संदर्भ में सभी संचालकों से वार्तालाप कर जानकारी उपलब्ध कराने की मांग महापौर द्वारा की गई इस संबंध में नगर आयुक्त द्वारा बताया गया की 7 दिनों के अंदर रेन बसेरा संबंधित सभी जानकारी महापौर कार्यालय वेश्म में उपलब्ध कराई जाएगी।
9. प्रत्येक वार्ड में वाटर हार्वेस्टिंग सिस्टम सुनिश्चित कराया जाएगा ।
10.प्रत्येक वार्ड में हर महीने के अंतिम सप्ताह में प्लांटेशन की व्यवस्था कराई जाएगी ।
11.भागलपुर नगर निगम क्षेत्र अंतर्गत जहां भी जल जमाव की समस्या है और निकासी की व्यवस्था नहीं है ऐसे सभी जगह पर संप बनाकर पानी को जमीन के अंदर ले जाने की व्यवस्था की जाएगी जिससे भूगर्भ में जाने वाला पानी रिचार्ज हो सकेगा और जल जमाव की समस्या से निजात मिलेगा।
बैठक के दौरान नगर आयुक्त, उप महापौर, उपनगर आयुक्त, भागलपुर नगर निगम के सभी वार्ड पार्षद, नगर निगम के कर्मचारी अधिकारी आदि मौजूद थे।
Multipurpose Health Drive at Sahibganj Health Unit

In a significant initiative to promote health and well-being, Malda Division organized a Multipurpose Health Drive and Breastfeeding Awareness Week, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) at the Sahibganj Health Unit. This commendable event was led by Additional Divisional Medical Officers (ADMO), Dr. Girindra, under the noble guidance and support of the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS)/MLDT, Dr. Anupa Ghosh.
The primary objective of the Medical Camp was to raise awareness about general health among the community, provide essential healthcare services, promote breastfeeding awareness, and counsel individuals on basic healthcare and hygiene. Around 75 Railway beneficiaries and their family members availed the health services.
Key Highlights of the Event:
• *Health Services:* The programme included preventive care, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and health awareness sessions. Through this event, several individuals received timely healthcare, helping to diagnose and address health issues before they became serious.
• *Breastfeeding Awareness Week:* Focusing on the theme "Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All," the week featured various activities aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of breastfeeding. An elocution competition and interactive discussion were held with girl students from Sahibganj St. Xavier's School, who shared their views on the topic.
• *Prize Distribution:* The winners of the elocution competition were awarded prizes by CMS, Dr. Anupa Ghosh, encouraging the young participants and acknowledging their insightful contributions.
The event successfully identified 7 new cases of diabetes mellitus and 9 new cases of hypertension through its screening program, underscoring the importance of regular health check-ups and early detection.
Such initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring that the community receives necessary healthcare at the right time, fostering a culture of health awareness and preventive care. Moreover, conducting such health camps helps in nurturing a spirit of community service within the Railway community, promoting social awareness about self-care, and encouraging good well-being practices.
