Railway Ensures Smooth Travel for Mahakumbh Mela Pilgrims

Shri Sheo Kumar Prasad, Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Malda*, held a press conference on 10th February 2025 regarding the ongoing measures to ensure smooth and efficient rail services during the Mahakumbh Mela. The press briefing emphasized the concerted efforts of Indian Railways in managing the surge of pilgrims to the holy city of Prayagraj.
With the increased number of pilgrims arriving for the Mahakumbh Mela, all eight stations in the Prayagraj region, including Prayagraj Junction, are fully operational and efficiently handling the rush. To meet the demands of the large influx, Indian Railways is operating an impressive 330 trains on Sundays, with 201 trains running by 3 PM today.
To further ease the transportation of pilgrims, the Eastern Railway has arranged for 47 pairs of special trains for the Mahakumbh Mela. These include:
• 11 pairs of trains between Malda Town & Prayagraj
• 27 pairs of trains between Howrah & Tundla
• 4 pairs of trains between Howrah & Bhind
• 5 pairs of trains between Bhagalpur & Kanpur Central
*ADRM/MALDA* emphasized that a round-the-clock monitoring system is in place at the station, division, zonal, and Railway Board levels to ensure the smooth operation of trains and passenger comfort.
Additionally, the Hon’ble Railway Minister is personally monitoring the running of trains to Prayagraj from the War Room at the Railway Board.
This coordinated effort between the Ministry of Railways and local railway authorities demonstrates a strong commitment to serving the devotees and ensuring their safe and efficient travel during this auspicious occasion.
