Flagging-off ceremony for The Introduction of LHB Rake for 13153/13154 Sealdah-Malda Town Gour Express

Fulfilling a long-cherished demand of the people of Malda, the Railways has introduced modern Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches for the 13153/13154 Sealdah–Malda Town Gour Express. A flagging-off ceremony was organized today at Platform No. 1 of Malda Town Station to mark this significant occasion.
The ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Member of Parliament (MP) Shri Khagen Murmu and Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Shri Gopal Chandra Saha, alongside Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Malda Division, Shri Manish Kumar Gupta, and other dignitaries.
Highlighting the significance of the upgrade, DRM/Malda Shri Manish Kumar Gupta stated that the two rakes of the 13153/13154 Sealdah–Malda Town–Sealdah Gour Express have been converted from conventional Integral Coach Factory (ICF) coaches to state-of-the-art LHB coaches. The upgraded rakes commenced operations with effect from December 28, 2024, departing from both Sealdah and Malda Town.
LHB coaches are known for their numerous advantages over conventional ICF coaches, including:
• Enhanced safety features to ensure passenger security.
• Superior comfort and modern amenities for a pleasant travel experience.
• Reduced chances of derailment, ensuring a safer journey.
• Noise reduction and better riding quality.
During the event, Hon’ble MP Shri Khagen Murmu and Hon’ble MLA Shri Gopal Chandra Saha addressed the media and expressed their gratitude to Indian Railways for fulfilling a long-standing demand of Malda’s residents. They lauded the Railways’ efforts in enhancing connectivity and providing a safer and more comfortable travel option for passengers commuting between Malda Town and Sealdah.
The upgraded Gour Express, with its modern LHB rake, will continue to operate on its regular schedule, catering to the needs of thousands of passengers daily. This development is expected to boost connectivity and contribute to the socio-economic growth of the region.
The flagging-off was conducted by the Hon’ble MP, MLA, and DRM/Malda. The enthusiastic crowd gathered at the platform expressed their satisfaction and joy at this development.
The Gour Express, now upgraded with the modern LHB rake, will continue to operate on its usual schedule, offering passengers a more comfortable, safe, and reliable travel option between Malda Town and Sealdah.
