Reporter - Shahid Alam
As part of the nationwide “Swachhata Hi Seva 2024” campaign, various cleanliness awareness programs were held across the Malda Division today. The focus of the initiative was to promote the RRR concept – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – among residents of railway colonies and sports persons in the region.
An awareness drive took place in Malda Railway Colonies, where sports persons actively participated in Shramdaan to create awareness on cleanliness and sustainable practices. The event emphasized the importance of waste management and recycling. Pamphlets promoting cleanliness and waste segregation were also distributed among the railway employees.
At Bhagalpur Station, the Swachhta Pakhwada was celebrated with great enthusiasm, with railway staff, passengers, and local residents coming together for Shramdaan, cleaning the station premises and nearby areas. Key themes of today's program included:
1. Raising awareness on RRR within the railway colonies.
2. Educating passengers on the harmful effects of single-use plastics and promoting reusable alternatives.
3. Conducting Shramdaan in designated areas to keep them clean and green.
4. Holding "Swachhta Samvaad" in local chaupals to engage residents.
5. Organizing an anti-littering drive at the station.
In line with the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024, a cricket match was also organized by the Jamalpur Diesel Shed today, to bring the message of cleanliness to the forefront. The event not only promoted physical fitness but also reinforced the need for collective action towards a cleaner and greener railway environment.
The initiative aims to inspire more people to join the movement and contribute to the cleanliness and sustainability efforts across the region.
